Seguro que algunos de vosotros recordáis aquella película llamada “Tomates verdes fritos” (altamente recomendable), y por si pensábais que se referían a los tomates sin madurar, ahí va una foto para demostraros que existe una variedad de tomate de color verde.

Mi abuela nos envió semillas de tomates verdes, negros y amarillos, y de momento, en el jardín de la madre de Hana (el nuestro todavía no es un jardín, aunque estará operativo en breve) han salido unos pocos verdes, y aunque el sabor es parecido al del tomate rojo, tienen un puntito especial. Se llaman tomates “de vereda” porque se pueden dejar plantados al borde del camino y nadie te los robará aunque estén maduros.

En cuanto aparezcan tomates de otros colores os iremos poniendo más fotos.

I’m sure some of you will remember that movie called “Fried green tomatoes” (highly recommended), and in case you thought they talked about unripe tomatoes, there you go a picture to show there’s a variety of green color tomato.

My grandmother sent us seeds for green, black and yellow tomatoes and so far at Hana’s mother garden (ours is still not a garden, but it will be in operation soon) we got a few green ones, and although the taste may not be that different from the red ones, they have it’s own special point. They are called tomatoes from the path, since you can plant them at the path border and no one will pick them up even if they’re already ripe.

As soon as we get other color tomatoes we’ll upload some more pictures.
